These employment numbers are only going to get worse and shot mandates are playing a significant role. Add to this the paltry wages of hospitality workers and an increasingly unpleasant workplace environment with all-day masking and being tasked with enforcement of protocols cutting into potential tips, and inflation, and you have a perfect storm of folks deciding it's just not worth it anymore when online jobs and freelancing opportunities are increasingly available as an option.
I was a federal employee with a security clearance until about ten days ago. I was in process for getting religious exemption to the poison jab. But I decided to resign because of rampant Soviet style repression and propaganda and censorship. I think the great resignation is mandates plus general disgust with what is happening. I know colleagues who got the shot but resigned because of the mandates and the atmosphere. (Oh and thanks for reminding us of Earthworm Jim! Eat dirt Fauci!)
And they are probably missing a few who are too spooked to return. I was a worker(lead cook/chef) for forty years who was forced physically to go back to school, I finished a degree while this was happening, I've gone sideways and am entering another degree program to kick the can down the road...I cannot even contemplate entering the job pool while any of this is going on...while I was cooking a few years ago we had to show up sick because staffing was so tight there was no slack, now they don't want you unless you wear masks and are 'up to date'. Fuck this shit.
This situation, wherein people appear to be choosing to terminate their own employment, is a direct result of Biden’s illogical and unnecessary unconstitutional overreach.
